Qualitative Data Analysis Using NVivo

NVivo is software for qualitative data analysis. This workshop offers an introduction and hands-on experience with creating a project and coding. It is suitable for PhD students and academics interested in qualitative research who are already familiar with qualitative data analysis.

Topics covered:

  • What is NVivo
  • Adding sources
  • Creating a node tree
  • Practising different ways of coding

Learning Outcomes: Participants will have a chance to:

  • Explore the basic functions of NVivo.
  • Create a project for coding.
  • Practice deductive and inductive qualitative data coding using NVivo.

Please note, if you have already collected your data and are ready to start setting up your database, you can stay for the full 3 hours. If not, you may leave after 2 hours.

Schedule:

  • 10-11: basic introduction to NVivo
  • 11-12: practice coding with assigned tasks
  • 12-1: getting started on your project - independent work and trouble shooting
